NEW WORKS
Our latest initiative is about helping the Music Service to commission a work written for the South Ulster Youth Orchestra with the participation of pupils from whole class schemes in some post-primary schools. Working with a dynamic local composer with a growing international reputation, pupils will have the opportunity to learn about composition and performance at first hand and to make new friends and enjoy new experiences as they work together to create something unique and extraordinary. Our help is needed to ensure the success of this venture and to make it as meaningful and memorable as possible for all participants.
VERY SUCCESSFUL GULLION TALES CONCERT!
The World Première performance of an exciting new commission by Belfast born composer Brian Irvine was held on Sat 17th April 2010.
Joining forces with the South Ulster Youth Orchestra were the choir of Dundalk Institute of Technology and pupils from Newry H.S, St. Paul`s H.S, Bessbrook and St. Joseph`s H.S, Newry. This amazing project, focussed on the theme of shared experiences, and was the result of a collaboration between the composer and all the young musicians taking part.
